Continue to Bali - D
Arriving in Bali you will be met at the airport and transferred to Puri Santrian, an intimate resort on east-facing Sanur Beach. Accommodation in club rooms, with a private pool for clubroom guests.

Light, informal supper this evening at the hotel.
Sun Oct 21

Sanur – B/L
Enjoy breakfast and a leisurely morning at Puri Santrian.. Later to the unusual Hotel Tugu with its rich collection of Indonesian arts and antiques. Following lunch at this unique hotel, journey north through pristine countryside to Lake Bratan, a jewel in Bali’s mountainous interior. There you will see the famous “floating temple” of Ulu Danau, set amid lush gardens on the lake’s shore. En route, stop at a colorful market brimming with rare spices and exotic tropical fruits.

Mon Oct 22 Sanur - B
Morning visit to a batik factory where you can observe the art of Balinese batik making. Afternoon at leisure to treasure hunt in Sanur’s local art shops. If you wish, look for old antique sarongs – beautiful fabric for quilt making.
Tue Oct 23

Sanur/ Yogyakarta – B
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your short flight to Yogyakarta, in Central Java. Direct to partially reconstructed Prambanam Temple complex, an ensemble of breathtaking shrines dedicated to the pantheon of Hindu gods. Returning to the city, a special visit is planned to the studio and gallery of the renowned batik designer, Nia Fliam, for a demonstration and half day workshop on the art of batik. Javanese lunch included. After the workshop, check in to the Hyatt Regency Hotel, with the evening free to explore the Night Market.


Wed Oct 24 Yogyakarta/ Bali – B
Depart early for a sunrise visit to magnificent Borobudur, considered one of the 10 wonders of the world. Buried in the jungle for a thousand years and only re-discovered 170 years ago, Borobudur is the largest Buddhist monument in the world, with exquisite stone reliefs recounting the life of Buddha.



Return to the hotel for breakfast and check out, and enjoy a city tour including the Sultan’s Palace and short puppet show and demonstration before transferring to the airport for your flight back to Bali.

In Bali you will be met and transferred to Ubud, the artistic and cultural center of the island. Accommodation at the beautiful and serene, Komaneka Resort, with delightful local shops and cafes just steps away.

Ubud – B/L
This morning, visit the Textile Arts Center and Gallery in Ubud, and enjoy a talk and demonstration on Indonesian textiles and fabrics. Enjoy lunch at the center’s restaurant and the afternoon free to explore Ubud. In the late afternoon/ early evening, enjoy a guided walking tour from the village of Sebali back to your hotel. A two hour walk through scenic rice fields and small rural villages, full of unexpected sights possible only on foot.


Fri Oct 26 Ubud – B/L
Today, explore weaving villages in the eastern part of Bali. Visit Sideman, where you will see the process by which beautiful songket cloth is made – from the creating of the complex pattern to the in-weaving of the fine gold and silver supplementary threads. Visit the “Bali Aga” (pre-Hindu) village of Tenganan, known for its rare, double ikat textiles. These cloths, called geringsing (literally “against sickness”), are believed to have magically protective properties. Visiting village weavers you will see the various stages of the entire 5-10 year process. Opportunity to shop for some of Tenganan’s intricate handicrafts and return to Ubud via picturesque backroads. Lunch included at the lovely Serai Hotel in Candidasa.

Workshop given by Threads for Life on the making of indigo dye and your own batik.
Sun Oct 28 Ubud – B/D
The day is at leisure for your own programs, a local massage, another workshop, shopping…
This evening enjoy a delicious farewell dinner at the popular Café Wayan.

Bali/ Los Angeles – B
Transfer to the airport for your flights home.
