| Day 3 |
Arrive Yangon, capital of Myanmar (Burma), and transfer to the luxurious
colonial-style Strand Hotel, one of the landmark hotels of Asia. |
| Day 4 |
After a leisurely breakfast, city tour of exotic Yangon including
the National Museum. In the late afternoon we explore magnificent Shwedagon
Pagoda, marveling as twilight sets its golden shrines, images and stupa
on fire. (B) |
Day 5
|
Morning flight to Heho, gateway to Lake Inle, one of the most beautiful
regions in Myanmar. Visit the Pindaya Caves, with hundreds of magnificent
Buddha images, then continue to the hill town of Kalaw and overnight
at the Pine Hill Resort. Enjoy dinner at a little known treasure, the
restaurant of Lu Lu Sing and her seven sisters. (B/D)

| Day 6 |
If our timing is right, visit the five day market in Kalaw, then continue
overland to Lake Inle, and transfer by motorized lake boat to the rustic
and charming Golden Island Cottages built on stilts over the lake. (B)

Day 7
|
Lose all sense of time as we spend the day exploring Lake Inle, its
astonishing floating gardens and villages on stilts. By boat visit the
Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the "Jumping Cat Monastary," and a traditional
silk weaving workshop, where American designers have been known to buy
exquisite fabrics. (B)

| Day 8 |
Journey back by boat to Khaung-Daing where we meet our van, and drive
through piney hills to the colonial hill station of Taunggyi. Here we
stop at a cheroot (cigar) factory and the local market before continuing
to Heho for our afternoon flight to Mandalay. Welcome on arrival and
transfer to the deluxe Sedona Hotel. (B) |
| Day 9 |
Full day sightseeing of Mandalay, including a boat trip on the busy
Ayeryarwady River to Mingun, site of the awesome 18th century Mingun
Paya monument and the fanciful Hsinbyume Paya where we'll get to ring
the world's largest uncracked bell. (B) |
Day 10
|
Today, explore Mandalay's famous craft centers, and ancient Sagaing
with its temple strewn hills where we visit the world's largest teak
bridge. Finally fly west to Bagan, the most amazing archeological site
in Myanmar, if not in all Southeast Asia, and transfer to the comfortable,
cottage-style Thiripyitsaya Sakura Hotel. (B)

| Day 11 |
Spend the whole day with an expert guide exploring Bagan's magnificent
ruins and reconstructions - on foot, from the car, and by horse and
cart in the exquisite late afternoon light. |
| Day 12 |
We rise early to visit more of Bagan's amazing sites, and to shop
for handicrafts, especially the beautiful lacquerware for which Bagan
is famous. This afternoon, we fly back to Yangon and enjoy our last
evening at the luxurious Strand. (B) |
Day 13
|
Fly Silk Air to Singapore, connecting with Singapore Airlines to Bali.
Welcome at the airport and transfer to The Oberoi, a breathtaking resort
on west-facing Seminyak Beach. (B)

| Day 14 |
The whole day is at leisure to rest, enjoy the ocean, the spa, and
the intriguing local shops of Kuta, Legian, and Seminyak. (B) |
| Day 15 |
Today we visit lovely Lake Bratan in Bali's mountainous north, site
of the famous floating temple of Ulun Danu. Stop at a local market brimming
with exotic fruits, flowers and rare spices. Enjoy the numerous views
of back-roads Bali, where village life goes on barely touched by the
outside world. Lunch included. (B/L) |
Day 16
|
Transfer to the artist village of Ubud in the foothills of central
Bali. En route explore lesser-known East Bali visiting Tenganan, one
of the three remaining Bali Aga villages known for its rare and intricate
crafts, especially weaving. In the afternoon check into the Alam Indah,
delightful hotel of only 10 rooms. (B/L)

| Day 17 |
Full day at leisure to soak in the atmosphere and explore this intriguing
area of Bali on our own. Browse through galleries and shops, enjoy a
massage or spa treatment, or let Perfect Spot Tours arrange a morning

| Day 18 |
With suitcases packed with treasures, and hearts filled with new experiences,
transfer to the airport for our flight to Singapore, and connecting
flight to Los Angeles, arriving the same evening. (B) |
